Walking in Beauty

What does it mean to walk in beauty in our broken world? This evening is the second in our two-part-series, of looking with Dave Richo, Michael Kearney and Radhule Weininger at our individual and collective shadow. This evening we will explore the positive side of our shadow, and what that means for us and our world.

At a time when we can feel overwhelmed by worry, it is important to remember that fear does not have the final word. It is important to remember beauty, love and meaning and to find ways of resting in this more expanded aspect of reality. With Dave Richo and Michael Kearney as speakers, and with Radhule as moderator, and with open questions in small groups and discussions, we will connect deeply with each other and our world.

HOSTS:

Radhule Weininger, Ph.D., clinical psychologist, and teacher of Buddhist meditation and Buddhist psychology, is the founder and guiding teacher of the One Dharma Sangha in Santa Barbara, California.  She is mentored by Jack Kornfield in her teaching and by Joanna Macy in her interest in Engaged Buddhism. Radhule has a strong interest in the direct experience of the sacred and how this can inspire our service to others. Her book “Heartwork: The Path of Self-Compassion“, with a foreword by Jack Kornfield published by Shambala Publications.

Michael Kearney, MD, Michael Kearney is a physician with over 35 years’ experience in palliative care.  He works at Cottage Hospital and at Serenity House in Santa Barbara.  His latest book entitled “The Nest in The Stream: Lessons From Nature on Being with Pain,” offers an ecological model of self-care and resilience that awakens the desire to act for the welfare of all beings.

David Richo, PhD, MFT, is a psychotherapist, teacher, workshop leader, and writer who works in Santa Barbara and San Francisco California. He combines Jungian, poetic, and mythic perspectives in his work with the intention of integrating the psychological and the spiritual. His books and workshops include attention to Buddhist and Christian spiritual practices.

Michael and Radhule spearheaded the nonprofit Mindful Heart Programs for the purpose of creating sacred spaces to practice, to provide educational programs in mindfulness, compassion and nature connection to enable us to care for ourselves, others and our world by transforming suffering, building resilience and deepening our capacity for serving and training others.
