Mindfulness Practice Mini-Retreat
with Souken Danjo and Radhule Weininger

Sunday, May 26th, 2013 2-6:30pm at La Casa de Maria
800 El Bosque Rd., Montecito. Register at: www.lacasademaria.org, free, donation only

This Sunday afternoon we will have a time of practice and ritual with Souken Danjo, a Rinsai Zen monk visiting from a forest monastery above Hiroshima, Japan. He will be teaching us about respect as an attitude; a consciousness one has towards others, the world and the spiritual realm. Respect is the most important attitude one can have towards another being. It includes clearly seeing them as who they are, seeing their Buddha-nature, the potential within them, and being of service to them so that they may experience well-being and may grow spiritually. He talks about "vision" as a way of experiencing understanding that comes from the spirit realm. He also will talk about the Boddhisatva realm, the way of grace, through which we connect with the Boddhisatva spirit. Souken Danjo will also chant the Heart Sutra for us and share a tea ceremony.   Radhule Weininger, MD, PhD. has practiced mindfulness meditation for 30 years since she studied in a Sri Lankan monastery in 1981. Currently she is mentored by Jack Kornfield and Alan Wallace.  Radhule is a clinical psychologist with a psychotherapy practice in SB, interested in the merging of Budhhist and Western Psychology.  She teaches mindfulness meditation and Buddhist psychology in private practice and in retreat settings. She is also trained to teach Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB), a training inspired and guided by his Holiness the Dalai Lama. Radhule lives with her husband and three children in Santa Barbara. www.radhuleweiningerphd.com

Mindfulness Practice Mini-Retreat
with Radhule Weininger

Sunday, March 10th, 2013 2-5:30pm at La Casa de Maria

Wealth management: Investing for happiness

This Sunday afternoon we will be offering a time of refuge with mindfulness and compassion meditation, including time to reflect on what is important to us in life, what gives us happiness and a sense of "wealth". A successful life does not foremost mean having money in the bank, but to live well, which includes a sense of inner wellbeing, enjoyable and nurturing relationships, health in body, heart, mind and soul, and a sense of inter-being. Inter-being refers to being intimately connected to others and the world around us with care and without fear. Together we will reflect on how to "invest" our time and energy, what to pay attention to, so that we further our propensity for happiness. With awareness and practice we allow our capacity for successful giving and receiving to grow, then we can tap into a kind of wealth, including awareness of awareness,  that is limitless, where care replaces competition.  "Skillful weath-management" is an act of compassion towards ourselves, those dear to us and the greater world of being.

Explore the powerful gifts of Buddhism and of an integrative psychological approach informed by Jungian philosophy, bridging mindfulness meditation and inspired imagery. By cobining these practices you will learn powerful new tools to transcend the wounds of the past and address life's issues, ground yourself, and set a course of healing. Literary pieces from Buddhism and mythology will serve to amplify the process and there will be opportunities to foster your own creativity through imagination and the arts. Inner spiritual guides will be explored as well as personal mantras, which serve as resonant anchors in difficult times. You will come away from this retreat able to practice the basics of Mindfulness Meditation and the ability to recognize and take a mindful pause that leads you to responsiveness rather than reactivity. You will learn how to invite your imagination into assisting the healing of inner complexes to discover what you most deeply value.

Cultivating Emotional Balance through Mindfulness
CEBtM Workshop Series with Radhule Weininger, M.D., Ph.D.
&
Kimberley Snow, Ph.D.
Saturday October 6  9:30am to 5:30pm
and Sundays October 7, 14, 21, 28 & November 7 from 2 to 6 pm

The Cultivating Emotional Balance through Mindfulness (CEBtM) Retreat melds mindfulness meditation with contemporary state of the art Western psychology.

The goals of the retreat are to allow us to deepen our awareness of our psychological processes, skillfully learning to witness and balance arising thoughts and emotions. Mindfulness meditation helps us to actualize a focused yet tranquil mind, while Metta or loving kindness meditation allows us to explore kindness and compassion for ourselves and others. Journaling enlivens and personalizes our processes, thus deepening our total experience and our learning.

The CEBtM method has been found to lead to increased inner happiness, more freedom and ease in life, as well as to foster a more harmonious and peaceful relationship with the world. Cultivating Emotional Balance originated through the auspices of HH the Dalai Lama who requested meditation teacher and scholar B. Alan Wallace Ph.D., in collaboration with eminent research psychologist Paul Ekman Ph.D., to develop a training to teach the cultivation of emotional balance. CEBtM, based on many hours of therapeutic application, is a further development of the original CEB.
This fall La Casa de Maria Retreat Center is happy to have the opportunity to offer CEBtM with psychologist and meditation teacher Radhule Weininger and meditation teacher and author Kimberly Snow. The retreat dates are Saturday the 6th of October, 9.30-5.30 pm with five subsequent Sunday afternoons from 2-6pm on the 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th of March and 4th of November.

For information please contact Radhule Weininger at radhule@gmail.com or call: 805-455-6205. For registration contact La Casa de Maria at lacasademaria.org.
Fee: $ 225, 22 CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs are available.

Radhule Weininger, M.D., Ph.D., participated in the inaugural immersion of CEB Teacher Training, led by Drs. Alan Wallace and Paul Ekman, in Thailand in 2010. She has practiced mindfulness meditation since a stay in Sri Lanka’s Black Rock Monastery 1981 and as psychologist and teacher has been interested in bridging Buddhist and Western psychology for the past two decades.
Kimberley Snow, Ph.D, author and Dharma teacher holds frequent workshops which combine meditation and writing, and is the Program Director for Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies, founded by B. Alan Wallace. She is the author of the memoir In Buddha’s Kitchen: Cooking, Being Cooked and Other Adventures in a Retreat Center, Writing Yourself Home, and Keys to the Open Gate.
